I've always found great inspiration in the natural world. I've long admired the paintings of Henri Rousseau, which have led me to play with enlarging some natural, graphic elements. In addition, the rendering of color in Gaugain's Tahitian paintings and Matisse's abstract cut-outs made lasting impressions on me when I saw them as a teenager. Evoking emotion through color is of paramount importance to me.
